Benefits

  • JENT identifies patterns of subclinical injury as the primary cause of uneven posture, altered movement and behavioural/emotional disquiet
  • JENT realigns soft tissue and muscle fascia resulting in skeletal repositioning; reducing areas of repetitive trauma which inevetably result in reduced performance, training problems and eventually lameness and breakdown
  • JENT detects joint pain long before it is displayed as gait irregularity
  • JENT eliminates chronic back pain before pathology is diagnosable
  • JENT eliminates low grade systemic dysfunction such as sluggish digestion & respiratory issues
  • JENT eliminates novement deficits reducing the risk of early break down, improving quality of life, extending the working life and performance capacity.

After three initital treatments and a   gradual increase in training intensity back to full work, horses predictably display performance gains such as:

  • A newfound confidence, alertness and willingness to perform
  • Greater responsiveness to the rider
  • Optimisation of self-carriage
  • Boost in power shown as increased stride height and length
  • Improved 'wind' and endurance capacity
  • Strengthening of top-line musculature
  • Increased soundness and training adaptation
  • Reduced recovery time after events
  • Increased ability to stay in work for longer periods
Overview

Jenkins Equine Neurophysiologic Therapy (JENT) is a unique bodywork therapy system based on extensive research and data collected from several thousand case studies.

Whereas veterinarians treat major trauma, JENT works on the fascial system and other repetitive traumas that lead to temperament, behavioural and training problems resulting in reduced performance.

JENT research shows that 90% of unevenness of gait can be attributed to pain caused by predictable myofascial dysfunction. JENT identifies these patterns as the primary cause of reduced posture, movement and behavioural/emotional disquiet

  •  pain causes anxiety
  • anxiety leads to muscle tension
  • chronic muscle tension leads to performance deficit resulting in lameness
  • experience has shown us that every uneven horse is ultimately destined to break down

Our philosophy is to give horses a pain free existance.

JENT is a whole horse program. Each horse is progressively assessed and treated according to its individual skeletal conformation, breed characteristics and muscle type.

The JENT program progressively addresses all aspects of horse health and function including physical issues.  Diet, teeth, hoof balance, horse care, saddle fit, riding style and training program if impacting on the horse's soundness.

Once these issues are addressed the JENT program achieves:

  • elimination of pain and allows horses the opportunity to develop their full potential
  • realignment of weight distribution and balance thus reducing wear and tear on joints
  • optimisation of self carriage
  • enhanced performance
  • expansion of communication channels between the rider and the horse's real self

JENT’s network of trained, experienced professional practitioners work in tandem with horse owners to produce the best outcomes for horses.

We also refer and consult with veterinarians, farriers, and other equine health care professionals.

Process

Each horse intitially requires three sessions generally 1 week apart

FIRST SESSION

  • Gait analysis (led only)
  •  Discussion with rider/trainer on individual breed characterisitcs and health and performance history
  • Sructural conformation assessment to determine physical capacities, strengths and limitations
  • Musculature conformation assessment to determine muscle asymmetry and preferred posture
  • Joint Range of Movement and flexibility stretching tests
  • Referred pain indicator tests
  • Palpation of localised sites of common facial distortions for pain/resentment responses
  • Intervention program is then formulated and discussed
  • Photonic Red Light is used to stimulate the neurological system repair mechanisms
  • Manual corrections targeting primary fascial distortions
  • An active recovery rehabilitation program is discussed (not under saddle between the 1st & 2nd sessions)
  • Written report with recommendations given at each session

SECOND SESSION

  • Gait check and analysis (led only)
  • Palpation testing for residual fascial distortions and any chronic underlying issues surfacing as acute
  • Joint Range of Movement (ROM) and flexibility progress stretching tests
  • Intervention and correction of secondary and compensatory issues
  • Saddle check for balance and fit
  • Static stretching
  • Recommendations regarding return to light ridden work

THIRD SESSION

  • Gait check and analysis (ridden or led)
  • Assessment of and intervention to any remaining issues or those arising from the weeks work
  • Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) stretching session
  • Discussion and recommendations with Trainer/Owner/Rider regarding:

1) Detection of early signs and symptoms of new future issues

2) How to optimise and 'ride the difference'

3) Future maintenance programme if necessary
