Red Light Therapy is a safe, painless, sterile, non-invasive, non-thermal, self-applied and cost effective method of health and healing care.
Red Light Therapy or Photonic Therapy, as it is also known, is an evidence and now science based complimentary and alternative approach to medicine using 660nm ultra red ‘light waves’ to stimulate repair and healing in the body. The biological neurophysiologic mechanisms of action are now also well researched and documented in reliable Medical and Veterinary research trials (see FAQ’s - Scientific Evidence).
From direct instruction and the research of Veterinarian Dr Brian McLAREN – PHOTONIC THERAPY AUS, and readings of researchers KAHN – MEDITECH, KARU –LBMI, WHELAN – NASA, SHANG – HARVARD and OSCHMAN– ERI, the mechanisms of action are understood to be as follows:
Wavelengths of red light are converted to photon energy in the skin, decaying to an electron stream which stimulates biochemical energy synthesis in the cells stimulating the nerves and intraneural collagen matrix of the brain & body to promote natural pain relief and healing.
Ultra red light can be used topically to affect changes in pain, inflammation, and immune system response to localised injury or specifically by following Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) acupoint (or acupuncture) treatment plans. Equine Red Light Therapy compliments professional health care by stimulating the release of the brain-body’s own neuro-chemicals to initiate and support recovery. All equine professionals will find a positive application for red light in their work.
A more detailed review of the underlying biological mechanisms is taught in a 4 day Equine Red Light Therapy Course. (See Education menu)
Red Light Therapy is an important component of Jenkins Equine Neurophysiologic Therapy (JENT). Completion of the Equine Red Light Therapy 4 day course is one of the pre-requisites necessary for professional Bodyworkers to apply for a position in the JENT practitioner’s course.
Horse owners and carers are welcome to take the 4 day course. 1 -3 day courses are also available. for horse owners.
